Well I guss it isn’t a read but something to watch from the TED website.  It is very interesting discussion on How the Internet enables Intimacy . I think that with all the advances in technology it does make it easier to talk to one another, we can send a text, email or place a call at anytime. I love the story about the family that lives in another country and will hook up the webcam at supper and sit down and have supper with their family. How wonderful is this! I think about how great it is to be able to talk to family at anytime, but it is true we are not suppose to do so at work or school. Do you think we should give students time in the day to talk to family? To send an email or texted to loved ones? or do you think it would be all about chit chat and gossip? how do we control these but still allow for time to have better relationships?

Well I tried to play around with a new resources recommened to by a co-worker, but had a few difficulites in using it.

Creat your own newspaper here: Newspaper for kids

It is a great site that allows you or students to create their own magazine or newspaper. Also, saving occurs on “Cloud Computing” so copyright free clipart images and creative commons pictures from Flickr would be best as these are okay to use and aren’t student pictures. I have found a few problems

#1) For the life of me I could not upload my own pictures from my directory…

#2) No Spell check or formatting, this could be a good thing or a bad thing. There is no spell check or fomat button. Having no spell check could be a good thing when working with students and getting them to actually do the work themselves and watch for typing mistakes. Formating can be hard but playing around with it, you figures things out pretty fast.

I would send you a link to the newspaper I created but gave up because I couldn’t upload the picture, but I had spent so much time on it, that I copy and pasted it into my word document, then added pictures then posted it here!

AHH! won’t upload the file….stay tuned!
